A tragic incident occurred in Barcelona this evening after civil protection teams discovered the body of a person inside a car swept away by the heavy rain that hit several neighborhoods of the city.
According to sources from the emergency services, teams received a report from citizens indicating the presence of a car stuck in a watercourse following heavy rainfall. Upon arrival of the civil protection units, it became clear that the car had been swept away by the floods. After a swift search and intervention, a body was found inside. The victim was recovered and the body was transported to the local hospital for necessary medical examinations to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an urgent investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and ascertain whether the victim was inside the car at the moment it was swept away or if other factors contributed to their death.
The incident caused sadness and concern among the residents of the neighborhood, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the weak infrastructure for draining rainwater, especially in low-lying areas that quickly turn into dangerous hotspots when large amounts of water fall.
It is worth noting that Barcelona and neighboring areas in Catalonia periodically experience strong weather disturbances leading to floods and local inundations, which have resulted in material and human losses in previous years.
