As part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal immigration and international drug trafficking, Royal Gendarmerie elements in Oualidia conducted a field sweep that led to the seizure of maritime equipment suspected of being intended for illegal purposes.
According to local sources, during this operation, an inflatable rubber boat and two marine engines of 15 and 60 horsepower were seized inside an abandoned house under construction in the Douar Ouled Hlal, belonging to the Oualidia commune. Three manual pumps, a quantity of engine oil, two five-liter plastic containers of gasoline, and a set of wooden planks were also found. Preliminary information suggests that this equipment was being prepared for a smuggling operation or for illegal immigration from the local coast. The competent authorities have launched a thorough investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to identify those involved and uncover all aspects of this case.
