Sania Erram Hospital in Tetouan witnessed maximum alert this Thursday morning following a surprise visit by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin El Tehrawi. This visit was part of a field tour the minister is conducting in several regional hospitals, following recent protests at Hassan II Hospital in Agadir.
According to local sources, the visit was not pre-scheduled, prompting hospital management and healthcare staff into a state of high alert to address the organizational situation within the institution, given its accumulated shortcomings in infrastructure, medical equipment, and human resources. The minister visited various hospital departments, including the emergency room and inpatient units, assessing patient reception conditions and the quality of services provided.
This visit is part of a series of field trips undertaken by the Minister of Health in recent days, in an attempt to restore confidence in the sector, especially after the protests by healthcare staff and patients in Agadir sparked a national debate on the state of the healthcare system and its readiness to support the royal initiative to generalize health coverage.
