Algerian media personality Hafeez Draji turned himself into a source of ridicule after announcing on his Facebook account his intention to enter Morocco to attend "CAN 2025" with a French ID card.
Draji said in response to a comment from a social media user that read, "The African Cup is approaching, have you obtained a visa?": "I have a French ID card; I can enter whenever I want." Draji's response sparked great mockery on social media, with commentators considering it proof of the person's complete ignorance of the simplest matters that any sports commentator is supposed to know before the start of major sporting events. Commentators highlighted that Draji's actions fall under serious professional errors, as the person did not bother to research the entry requirements for a country that will host a major sporting event that he is supposed to comment on its matches. After more than eight hours of his comment that turned him into a subject of ridicule on "social media," the Algerian media personality, most likely after researching the subject, deleted it. In his comment on the matter, Algerian media personality Walid Kabir described Draji as "ignorant," explaining that he did not accept, despite his continuous boasting of patriotism, "using his Algerian passport to travel to Morocco." Kabir explained in a post published on his social media account that the procedures for obtaining the electronic visa imposed by Morocco as a temporary measure due to the African Cup are simplified. He continued that "The ignorant does not know that entering Morocco is not done with a French ID card as trumpeted by the army's mouthpieces and its flies, but requires holding a biometric passport valid for at least 90 days."
