HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Zariouh
A woman survived certain death inside a bus belonging to a well-known company in the city of Nador last Wednesday night. The bus was coming from the city of Rabat towards Nador after the door closed on her suddenly, which caused a state of panic and fear among the passengers who witnessed the incident.
The bus closed its doors at the moment the woman was preparing to get off, which left her trapped inside and threatened with suffocation, while the driver continued on his way to his destination without paying attention to the dangerous situation the passenger was in.
The intervention of a number of citizens contributed to saving the woman from certain death, as they were able to exploit a small window that was open to get the victim out of it with great difficulty.
The woman sustained injuries and wounds due to the narrowness of the window and the difficulty of the extraction process. She was quickly transferred to Al Hassani Hospital to receive the necessary treatment, while the accident left deep resentment among those present, who considered what happened a result of a serious shortcoming in safety conditions inside public transportation.
As usual, the bus was supposed to arrive at the old station in the city of Nador, but the driver chose this time to change the destination and stop at the entrance to the city, which increased the controversy and raised broad questions about the extent to which the company concerned is committed to its responsibilities.
The accident brought to the forefront urgent demands for the need to improve safety conditions inside buses and review the behavior of drivers, with the transport companies bearing full responsibility for the lives of passengers, and confirming calls by citizens to open a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances of what happened and avoid the recurrence of such accidents in the future.
