The United Nations General Assembly is the largest annual meeting of the world’s international leaders. Although the General Assembly saw a number of historic moments for gender equality, there is still much to be accomplished in terms of women’s representation and participation. In its 77 years of existence, only four women have been elected to its presidency.

The Security Council, composed of 15 members, has the main mission of maintaining peace and security in the world. If women currently represent a little more than a third of the members of the Security Council, which is significantly higher than the average, it is still not enough. Consult the “UN-Women” report on the participation of women in the Security Council.
