HIBAPRESS
Sources close to the investigation revealed to Agence France-Presse that the crown of Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, has been found. The crown was among the jewelry stolen during the robbery that targeted the Louvre Museum in the French capital last Sunday.
This crown is considered one of the rare imperial crowns, as it includes 1354 diamonds and 56 emeralds, according to the description published on the museum's official website. On his part, the French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez described the theft as a "major operation," indicating that the perpetrators were able to break into the museum from the outside via a crane carried on a truck, and entered the "Apollo Hall" where they targeted two display cases containing "priceless" jewelry. Nuñez explained that the operation lasted only about seven minutes, without any injuries being recorded, confirming that the museum was evacuated to preserve the evidence and enable investigators to work in appropriate conditions. The French minister added that the incident revealed serious security gaps in French museums, but stressed that the authorities "are making every effort to identify the perpetrators," while also suggesting that some of them may be of foreign nationalities.
