US President Donald Trump announces rapid progress in the ongoing negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, with the aim of ending the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and reaching an agreement that includes the release of hostages held by the movement.
Trump clarified, in a post on social media platforms, that the current talks are "very successful and proceeding at an accelerated pace," noting that technical teams will meet again on Monday in Egypt to complete the discussion of the final details. He affirmed that the first phase of the agreement is scheduled to be completed during the current week, calling on the concerned parties to expedite the implementation of practical steps. The US President added that the proposed agreement to end the war in Gaza represents a "great deal for Israel," indicating that Hamas has expressed preliminary approval on a number of key items in the 20-item proposal, which includes a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip, and the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners. At the same time, Trump warned that Hamas will face complete elimination if it refuses to relinquish power or hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip, indicating that his plan seeks to arrange the post-war phase and ensure the stability of the Strip, according to Reuters.
