Hamas leader Hussam Badran said on Saturday that the movement will not participate in the signing ceremony of the agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza, which is scheduled to be held in Egypt.
Badran explained, in an interview with Agence France-Presse in Doha, that the signing ceremony will be limited to mediators, American and Israeli officials, stressing that Hamas will not be a party to this event. The Hamas leader responded to what was mentioned in US President Donald Trump's plan regarding the departure of the movement's leaders from Gaza, describing it as "absurd and nonsense," and added: "No Palestinian can accept being removed from his land, whether from Hamas or others." Badran also warned that Hamas will respond to any "Israeli aggression" if the war resumes, noting that the next stage of negotiations will be "more difficult and complex." In the same context, another official in the movement, who refused to disclose his identity, confirmed that the demand to disarm Hamas, which was mentioned in Trump's plan, is "completely out of discussion," stressing that it is "not possible or can be proposed." It is worth noting that Israel and Hamas signed, on Thursday in Sharm el-Sheikh, an agreement that ended a two-year war in the Gaza Strip, which included a ceasefire and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian detainees.
