HIBAPRESS
The Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has returned, as usual, to launching lies and controversial fictional narratives, when he claimed that Israel was secretly planning to bomb the capital of Algeria, and precisely the Club des Pins, about 37 years ago, in response – as he said – to "Algeria's position supporting Palestine."
During a speech he gave at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in front of the Algerian military leadership, Tebboune tried to promote a narrative described as gelatinous, without providing any evidence or even a logical explanation for why what he called "the Zionist plan" was not implemented. Rather, he sufficed with recounting events dating back to 1988, when the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat announced the establishment of the State of Palestine from Algeria. Tebboune, who seemed to be looking for imaginary heroism amidst the escalating crises of his country, found nothing to justify the failure of his policies except for invoking stories of old "conspiracies," as if the memory of the Algerians is short to the point of believing such narratives that have not been confirmed by any official party or historical document. And while Algeria is trying today to convince the public that it is the "first defender of Palestine," Tebboune continues to use the Palestinian cause as an internal political card to escape from reality, in a scene that reflects the confusion of the military regime that lives on manufacturing imaginary enemies instead of facing its real problems that have caused Algerians to flee from the oil and gas state.
