HIBAPRESS – Omar Abreesh
The decision of the Ighzennaya commune to change the venue of its extraordinary session, which was scheduled to be held at the commune headquarters, to another closed hall, has raised a wave of questions among journalists and local observers.
According to local sources, the sudden change of the session venue came directly after the arrival of a number of media representatives to cover its work, which some considered an attempt to avoid questions related to local affairs management and the recent protests in the region. Several journalists who attended the scene expressed their astonishment at this decision, which was described as unjustified, considering that it contradicts the principle of transparency and the right of citizens to be informed of what is happening within the elected councils. For their part, local activists demanded that the commune presidency provide clarifications to the public regarding the reasons for this decision, emphasizing the need to ensure the openness of the elected councils to the media as an essential part of democratic oversight and accountability.
