HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Judge Mohamed Redouane, President of the Al-Hassania Association of Judges and President of the African Group of the International Association of Judges, was elected Vice-President of the International Association of Judges, during the 67th annual conference of the association held this week in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, with the participation of judicial associations and international bodies from various continents.
The International Association of Judges is the largest professional organization for judges, founded in 1953 in Salzburg, Austria, and currently based in Rome. It includes in its membership judicial associations and bodies from ninety-two countries, and works to defend the independence of the judiciary and consolidate the rule of law, in addition to contributing to the dissemination of the universal principles of justice and human rights.

The association enjoys consultative status with the Council of Europe, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, and the International Labour Organization. It also plays an important role in training and comparative studies through specialized committees that address issues of constitutional, civil, criminal, and labor law. The current session was held in Baku between October 11 and 17, 2025, organized by the Union of Judges of Azerbaijan, and witnessed discussions about the reality of judicial independence and the impact of technological and digital transformations on justice systems in the world.

Advisor Mohamed Redouane holds the position of advisor at the Court of Cassation, where he was elected in 2023 as President of the Al-Hassania Association of Judges, which is the largest professional association of judges in Morocco. In April 2024, he also assumed the presidency of the African Group of the International Association of Judges during a conference held in Casablanca under the slogan "For an Independent African Judiciary," with the participation of delegations from more than twenty African countries. His professional career has seen a progression within the Moroccan judicial body, where he accumulated experience in several responsibilities before assuming the leadership of the association, which, during his tenure, ensured to strengthen its national and international presence and enhance cooperation with regional and international judicial organizations.

His election to the position of Vice-President of the International Association of Judges strengthens Morocco's presence within the international judicial space, and allows the Kingdom to participate in shaping policies and directions within this organization, which is one of the most prominent global judicial forums, reflecting the openness of the Moroccan judiciary to its regional and international environment, and contributing to the sharing of experiences and practices between different judicial systems.
