HIBAPRESS – Rabat
In a new statement reflecting the continuity of the American position supporting the territorial integrity of Morocco, Massad Boulos, advisor to US President Donald Trump, announced that the United States of America is preparing to open a consulate in the Moroccan Sahara in the near future.
Boulos affirmed in a press statement, with audio and video, that this decision comes in the context of the continuity of the clear American position towards the Moroccan Sahara, pointing out that President Trump had previously officially recognized the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its southern territories, and called for finding a permanent solution to this regional dispute within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty. Boulos said: "Certainly, God willing, this Sahara is Moroccan.. We know that President Trump officially confirmed Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara, and affirmed the need to find a permanent solution to this issue," adding that the American administration was clear and decisive in its support for Morocco, and that the next steps will embody this support on the ground. It is worth noting that the American recognition of the Moroccan Sahara in December 2020, during the Trump administration, constituted a historic turning point in the course of this file, as it was followed by cooperation agreements and strategic partnerships between Washington and Rabat in various fields, including security, investment and development in the southern regions. The opening of the American consulate in the Moroccan Sahara is expected to be an additional step to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, and to consolidate the American role in supporting development and stability efforts in the region.
