In a precise and proactive security operation, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie in Essaouira foiled, a short while before this Saturday, October 18, 2025, a smuggling attempt of a large shipment of hashish. The drugs were carefully prepared on board a "Fourgonnette" vehicle, at the level of the administrative territory of the Al Hanchane commune, for sending via maritime routes as part of an organized international activity.
The operation, which was supervised on the ground by the Regional Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie and his deputy, was carried out with precise coordination between the various field units, which succeeded in stopping the car loaded with four tons of hashish, as well as its driver. The judicial police of the Royal Gendarmerie in Essaouira have started their investigations under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, with the aim of dismantling the threads of this network and tracking the rest of those involved and contributors to the operation, focusing on regional extensions and possible logistical means used in preparation and execution.
