HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Baraka
As part of road monitoring operations aimed at protecting consumer health and combating illegal activities, elements of the Royal Gendarmerie at the Amrzkan territorial center, affiliated with the regional command of Warzazat, on Wednesday, May 20, the first day of Eid al-Adha, were able to thwart an attempt to transport quantities of suspicious foodstuffs through one of the road axes in the region.
This operation came after the stopping of a passenger bus that was securing a trip between Rabat and Zagora, passing through Warzazat, where the search resulted in the seizure of a shipment of frozen fish and parts of beef, which were hidden among the passengers' luggage in circumstances that raise doubts about the extent of their compliance with health safety standards.
The seized materials have been confiscated, and an investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, with the aim of uncovering the source of these goods, the circumstances of their transport, and the potential parties involved in their promotion.
The bus driver and his assistant have also been placed under custody for in-depth investigation and to take the necessary legal measures.
This operation comes within the continuous efforts of the Royal Gendarmerie services to monitor the movement of food materials on the roads, especially with the approach of occasions that witness an increase in the movement of goods, in order to ensure consumer protection and to address anything that would threaten the health safety of citizens.
