Agadir – The city of Agadir is preparing, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, to host the first edition of the "Ironman 70.3" race, one of the most prominent global sporting events in the sport of triathlon, with the participation of more than 2,000 athletes from over 40 countries, in addition to a selection of Moroccan participants.
This important international sporting event is held under the patronage of the Souss-Massa region and with the support of the Agadir Municipal Council, to form a unique opportunity to shed light on the qualifications of the Kingdom of Morocco in hosting major events, especially with the upcoming organization of the African Cup of Nations and the World Cup, and to highlight Morocco's position as a global tourist and sports destination.
The race will start amidst unique natural scenery that combines the blue of the Atlantic Ocean and the slopes of the Atlas Mountains, providing participants with an exceptional sporting experience in the heart of southern Morocco. The race includes three stages: swimming for a distance of 1.9 kilometers, cycling for a distance of 90 kilometers, and running for a distance of 21 kilometers.
The moderate weather in Agadir during the end of October, with an average temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, provides an ideal atmosphere for this international competition, in addition to the city's abundance of tourism and entertainment infrastructure that makes it a favorite destination for athletes and their families.
In parallel with the official race, the city will witness on Saturday, October 25, a set of parallel activities aimed at the residents and visitors, the most prominent of which is the "Iron Kids" race for children from 7 to 14 years old, and "The Fun Run" race, which is organized in honor of women with breast cancer, under the slogan "Add meaning to your steps", in celebration of Pink October.
The "Ironman Village" is expected to be built in the heart of the Agadir Corniche, which will include spaces dedicated to participants and visitors, including an official store for "Iron Man" products, exhibition halls for exhibitors and partners, in addition to restaurants and entertainment facilities.
This event will represent a real opportunity to discover the city of Agadir in an unconventional way, and to promote it as an ideal destination for outdoor sports practitioners and sports tourism, especially from neighboring European countries, given its geographical proximity and its favorable climate for training throughout the year.
This race will also open the door for Moroccan and international athletes to win qualifying tickets to the "Ironman 70.3" finals, which will be held in the French city of Nice in September 2026.
With this, Agadir consolidates its position as a leading sports and tourism destination at the national and international levels, and confirms its involvement in the development dynamic that the Kingdom is experiencing.
