Media reports indicated on Sunday that loud explosions were heard and intense Israeli warplanes were flying over Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, in a scene described as the most violent since the announcement of the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli media reported that the Israeli army launched a new attack on targets in Rafah, at a time when Tel Aviv and Hamas are exchanging accusations regarding mutual violations of the truce. Channel "12" of Israel indicated that gunmen opened fire on a military vehicle in Rafah, prompting the army to respond with gunfire, while the Israeli Broadcasting Authority explained that the operation came "in response to Hamas's violation of the ceasefire." The authority added that "this is not the first violation of its kind," explaining that "last Friday, a number of gunmen emerged from a tunnel in Rafah and opened fire on Israeli forces without recording any injuries." In the same context, Channel 14 reported that the Israeli army "eliminated two gunmen in the Jabalia area after they tried to infiltrate across the yellow line." No official comment has yet been issued by the Israeli army regarding the nature or results of the attack.
