The renewed partnership between France and Morocco will be based on a win-win dynamic and a common ambition to respond to market requirements and environmental challenges, underlined Ross McInnes, president of the France-Morocco business leaders club, under the employers of France (MEDEF-International).
Mr. McInnes, who also chairs the Board of Directors of the Safran group, who signed on the occasion of the state visit to Morocco by French President Emmanuel Macron, a memorandum of understanding with the Kingdom for the realization of an investment project consisting of the construction and equipment of a maintenance and repair (MRO) workshop for LEAP aircraft engines with an investment amount of almost 130 million euros, indicated that “Morocco has been able to position itself as a major player, making notable progress in sectors such as aeronautics, where French companies like Safran employ a significant number of Moroccan talents.”
He noted that cooperation between the two countries is today part of “a logic of co-industrialization, increasingly promoting products of Moroccan origin, and our objective is to further strengthen this creation of value within of the Kingdom”.
Morocco, he added, is also a strategic ally, thanks to its geographical proximity, but also for its favorable economic and energy environment, noting that the Kingdom’s energy transition, in particular its investments in solar and wind power, constitutes an additional asset in this context.
“This shift towards renewable energies reinforces our approach to sustainable development,” he said.
Regarding cooperation with Africa, Mr. McInnes stressed that “Morocco and France have a common past, expertise, influence, a convergence of talents and complementary knowledge, which creates a favorable breeding ground for mutually enriching collaborations in the African continent.
