The activity of international drug smuggling networks in the Al Hoceima region has not decreased, as these networks continue their criminal activity at a high rate, both locally and internationally, with the expansion of their illegal operations.
According to information obtained from informed sources, elements of the naval gendarmerie in Al Hoceima were able, at dawn today, Sunday, to carry out a qualitative operation that resulted in the discovery of a large quantity of "chira" drugs that were securely hidden among the rocks at the foot of Mount Sidi Abed, in a location overlooking the sea directly. The operation came within the framework of intensive efforts to monitor the coasts and combat international maritime drug smuggling networks. 16 bundles of "hashish" were found, which were equipped for smuggling through maritime routes towards international waters, where it was scheduled to be delivered to drug dealers on board "phantom" boats in the open sea, and from there to southern Spain. Immediately after monitoring the smuggled quantity, elements of the judicial police and local authorities arrived at the scene to declare a state of wide security alert, and the perimeter of the site was combed in anticipation of the presence of additional quantities of drugs. The security authorities opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution, while the seized quantity was transferred to the port of Al Hoceima pending the completion of legal procedures.
