HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The Spanish government, headed by Pedro Sánchez, has postponed the announcement of the scheduled date for King Felipe VI's visit to the occupied cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
According to Spanish media, several details related to the visit are still being finalized, including whether Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will accompany the King during his tour, which will be Felipe VI's first to the two autonomous cities since he ascended the throne 12 years ago.
Circles close to the Spanish Prime Minister do not rule out the possibility of Sánchez joining the visit, which he has previously described as reflecting "the absolute commitment of the state" towards occupied Ceuta and Melilla.
Should Sánchez be unable to accompany the King, it is expected that one of the ministers will undertake the task of accompanying him. However, the same sources confirm that all these arrangements are still under consideration.
The Spanish Prime Minister's office indicates that Sánchez has previously visited occupied Ceuta four times since he took office as Prime Minister, the last of which was on July 31st, following the entry of large numbers of migrants into the city.
