The results of the investigations conducted by the Turkish authorities against a group of artists and celebrities sparked widespread controversy today, after laboratory tests revealed the presence of prohibited substances in the bodies of a number of stars, within a case that has preoccupied public opinion for days in Istanbul.
According to the Turkish press, the tests came back positive for Dilan Polat, Deren Talu, Burak Tozkoparan, Bergüzar Korel, Kubilay Aka, Metin Akdülger, and Kaan Yıldırım, which confirmed the suspicions that led to the opening of the investigation.
In contrast, the tests proved the innocence of a number of artists, including Zinet Sali, İrem Derici, Feyza Altun, and Engin Polat, as it turned out that the substances found were related to legal therapeutic medications. The results also came back completely negative for Hadise, Mert Yazıcıoğlu, Demet Evgar, and Özge Özpirinçci, among others.
The case began last week after a secret report about celebrities using prohibited substances, and the Public Prosecution initiated a broad investigation in cooperation with the Anti-Smuggling and Narcotics Bureau, which included 19 names of actors, singers, and social media influencers. The raids were carried out at dawn under legal supervision, without immediate arrests, with the aim of verifying the accuracy of the reports.
The Public Prosecution continues its investigations to determine responsibilities, at a time when the Turkish street is divided between those who describe the move as decisive and those who consider it media exaggeration.
