HIBAPRESS from Chile
In an unprecedented initiative, the Moroccan embassy in Santiago, the capital of Chile, held a large reception for Moroccan fans who came to support the national team in the final match yesterday, Sunday.
The reception was not ordinary, as the embassy slaughtered a calf and provided Moroccan food in an atmosphere of hospitality and generosity. Special sources revealed to the newspaper that the ambassador personally oversaw everything, and tasked people to go and slaughter the calf in a slaughterhouse a little far from the city, because halal meat is not easily available there, and then they brought the meat to the embassy, and prepared it in the guest house as if it were a Moroccan home, not just a diplomatic headquarters. The Moroccan fans were very happy with this gesture, and felt at home, especially since they were not expecting this type of reception, many of them said that this was the first time they had seen an embassy open its doors in this way and welcome citizens with warmth and with food from their country. This step shows a new face of Moroccan diplomacy, which is no longer just in the official framework, but is getting closer to the citizen and expressing the cohesion between the state and the people, even when they are outside the country. The initiative received a great response from the Moroccan public in Santiago, and some described it as "historic", and it remains a beautiful example of how the relationship between embassies and Moroccans in different countries of the world can be.
