HIBAPRESS – Shafiq Anouri
Social media users in Latin American countries reacted with great mockery to the loss of the Argentinian national team against its Moroccan counterpart in the final of the Under-20 World Cup.
The mocking comments poured in on the Argentinian team, which had celebrated after its victory over Colombia in the semi-finals, as if it had already clinched the title, and repeated slogans belittling Morocco. On the field, Argentina was unable to win the final match, despite entering the match as the favorite, and lost with two clean goals scored in the first half hour. Social media users such as "X" shared various tweets mocking Argentina, some in the form of video clips, and others funny pictures. Despite some Argentinians trying to defend their national team, the mocking comments from citizens of South American and Caribbean countries, led by Mexico and Chile, were more numerous and widespread. The matter was not limited to mockery only, but many used "memes" to celebrate the fall of the Argentinian team against Morocco in the final. Some users said that Argentina celebrated early, which may have affected their performance during the match, as Morocco was proficient in attack and defense together. Some social media users wrote: "Go dance, talkative Argentinian," "They are on their way to the airport," "Humble bath," "Thank you for saving football, Morocco."
