Tunisian President Kais Saied stressed the need to hold accountable the official responsible for the statement that announced the exclusion of Morocco from Tunisian date exports this season.
During his meeting today, Wednesday, at Carthage Palace with the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, Saied said that "at a time when Tunisia is seeking to open new markets for date exports, an irresponsible statement was issued that requires questioning its author because it includes the exclusion of a brotherly state, which is Morocco." The Tunisian President added, "Our brothers always remain our brothers, so how can a brother exclude his brother, even if views and positions differ? Our choices remain our own, and we do not accept anyone interfering in them, but the bonds of kinship represent our history and destiny, within the framework of mutual respect." It is worth noting that a statement issued by the Joint Professional Association of Dates in Tunisia had set the date for the start of the date export season, indicating that it includes all markets except the Moroccan market, which sparked a wave of controversy.
