HIBAPRESS – Rabat

Ahmed Al-Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, revealed that the current agricultural season is expected to record significant olive production, which will double compared to last year.

Al-Bouari explained, while answering journalists' questions during the press conference that followed the work of the Government Council, that the national production of olives will reach about two million tons, while it did not exceed 900,000 tons during the previous season. The minister pointed out that olive prices have begun to see a noticeable decline thanks to the abundance of production, as the price per kilogram currently does not exceed 5 dirhams, compared to more than 14 dirhams last year. Al-Bouari confirmed that this abundance will be reflected positively on farmers and consumers alike, by strengthening the income of producers and ensuring appropriate prices in the national market.
