Olympique Safi secured its place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in its history, after drawing against Stade Tunisien with a score of (1-1) today, Saturday, in the match held at the Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Radès, for the second preliminary round of the competition.
Although a goalless draw dominated most of the match, the Safi team showed great courage and created several scoring opportunities without succeeding in exploiting them. In the 64th minute, Congolese referee Yannick Malala awarded a controversial penalty to the Tunisian team, which the latter managed to convert into a goal, before Olympique Safi managed to equalize in the 85th minute. With this result, the representative of Moroccan football secured its historic qualification to the group stage, benefiting from its advantage in the first leg at the Al Massira Stadium in the city of Safi with a score of (2-0). A new achievement puts Olympique Safi among the greats of the continent, and immortalizes its first participation in this round since the club was founded.
