HIBAPRESS – Sports
The Royal Army secured its qualification to the group stage of the African Champions League after winning against Horoya AC of Guinea with a score of 3-0, in the match that took place on Saturday evening at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
With this victory, the military team raised its score to 4-1 in the aggregate of the two matches, confirming its strong return to the continental scene and its organized performance and offensive effectiveness against a strong competitor, expressing its great desire to restore the glories of the military club and add a second cup after the first in 1985.
Offensive pressure from the beginning
The Royal Army did not give its guest a chance to control the atmosphere of the match, and began to impose its pressure on the goal of goalkeeper Sekou Sylla, despite the solidity of Horoya's defense. Khalid Ait Ourhan almost opened the scoring early in the 11th minute, after a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the latter blocked his shot.
The offensive attempts of the soldiers continued through Youssef El Fahli, Harimat, and Ait Ourhan, taking advantage of the spaces left by the early expulsion of player Mamadi Madi in the 24th minute after a rough tackle on Ait Ourhan.
First goal from a penalty kick
In the 37th minute, the army was awarded a penalty kick that was successfully executed by captain Rabie Harimat, giving his team the lead amid great jubilation in the stands.
The second half and continued pressure
At the beginning of the second half, the military team continued its pressure on Horoya's goal, where Ait Ourhan and El Fahli attempted several attempts, while Ahmed Hamoudan was close to doubling the score in the 58th minute after the goalkeeper brilliantly saved.
The team scored the second goal in the 71st minute with a friendly fire from defender Ibrahim Kaba, who tried to deflect El Fahli's cross but it accidentally turned into his team's net.
In the 80th minute, Horoya received a second expulsion for Amadou Djibo, reducing their ranks to 9 players, before Jamal Chammah concluded the match with a third goal in the last minute with a powerful shot from outside the area, paving the way for the Royal Army's qualification with a clean three-goal victory.
Strong return to the continental scene
With this performance and victory, the Royal Army confirmed that it is a strong and organized team capable of competing in continental tournaments, with the benefit of offensive effectiveness and defensive discipline that appeared throughout the match.
