HIBAPRESS – Agadir
Today, Saturday, 70 new buses were received at the port of Agadir as part of the implementation of the national public urban transport program for the period 2025-2029, which aims to modernize the transport system in Moroccan cities and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
Details of the Urban Transport Program in Agadir
Greater Agadir is among the six cities benefiting from the first phase of the program, which seeks to provide all cities with appropriate urban transport means in terms of quality and quantity.
An additional 58 buses are expected to be received at the beginning of next November through the same port, in addition to 41 buses through the port of Casablanca next week, bringing the total number of buses allocated to Greater Agadir to 247 buses.
Continuity of the Urban Development Program
This operation comes as a complement to the Agadir 2020-2024 urban development program in the field of urban transport, which included the acquisition of a group of high-level BHNS buses, to enhance service quality and the comfort of citizens.
Program Funding and National Goals
The new urban transport program establishes the foundations of new governance for sustainable mobility, in line with the royal directives contained in the message addressed to the Second National Conference on Advanced Regionalization in Tangier in December 2024.
The total cost of the program is about 11 billion dirhams, which is funded equally between the Ministry of Interior (General Directorate of Local Authorities), the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the twelve regions of the Kingdom. The program aims to provide all Moroccan cities with a modern, comprehensive, and sustainable urban and semi-urban transport system, with a focus on the quality of services provided to citizens.
