HIBAPRESS – Rabat
Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, affirmed that the Moroccan film industry is witnessing remarkable development, making it more capable of interacting with the demands of the job market and the expectations of actors in the cultural and creative field.
Bensaid explained in the House of Representatives that the sector is playing an increasing role in creating job opportunities and attracting foreign investments, which strengthens Morocco's position as a preferred destination for international film productions. The Minister pointed out that for the first time in 2024, a record volume of investments was reached by international companies operating in the film industry in Morocco, amounting to one billion and five hundred million dirhams, which reflects the increasing confidence in national infrastructure and Moroccan technical and artistic frameworks. Bensaid added that this dynamic came as a result of the reforms initiated by the Ministry in partnership with the Moroccan Cinema Center, especially with regard to simplifying procedures, improving the investment climate, and developing support mechanisms. The aforementioned ministerial official confirmed that the film industry is no longer just a cultural field, but has become an economic lever capable of contributing to the creation of wealth and providing job opportunities for young people. The Minister stressed that the government will continue its support for the sector by strengthening training and coaching, encouraging local production, and attracting more international partners, in order to ensure the sustainability of the growth of the Moroccan film industry and achieve its rayonnement on the regional and international levels.
