HIBAPRESS – I. Al-Smlali
The Moroccan artist Saadia Ldibe issued a heartfelt appeal to her followers via her official "Instagram" account, asking them for help in reporting a fake account that impersonates the identity of her son, Adam Al-Salmi.
Ldibe explained that this account uses her son's picture and name without his knowledge or permission, stressing that it has absolutely no connection to what is published in it, and emphasizing the seriousness of such actions that affect private life and exploit the images of minors on the internet. The artist wrote in her post: "Can you please report this page that is using my son's picture and name?", in a call for cooperation to close the account and limit the spread of such disturbing phenomena. It is worth mentioning that Saadia Ldibe is not the first Moroccan artist to face the problem of digital identity theft, as cases of exploitation of the names of artists and their family members are increasing across social platforms, which brings back the discussion about the need to tighten monitoring and protect personal data in the digital space.
