The Rapid Support Forces in Sudan announced on Thursday the arrest of a number of suspects involved in committing violations in the city of El Fasher, Darfur state, including the so-called "Abu Loulou".
The forces said in a post on the "Telegram" platform: "In implementation of the directives of the leadership and in compliance with the law and the rules of conduct and military discipline during the war, our forces arrested a number of suspects in the violations that accompanied the liberation of the city of El Fasher, headed by the so-called (Abu Loulou)". They explained that "the competent legal committees have begun investigating them in preparation for bringing them to justice, and these measures come to prevent any violations that affect human dignity or conflict with international agreements, including the Geneva Conventions." On Wednesday, the spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces confirmed in a special statement to "Sky News Arabia" that the person nicknamed "Abu Loulou" — who appeared in video clips of what appeared to be field liquidations in El Fasher — does not belong to the Rapid Support Forces. Al-Fateh Qarashi added: "The Rapid Support Forces have not committed any violations against civilians, and the fact-finding committee will begin its work as soon as the appropriate field conditions are available." The spokesman explained that an investigation committee has been formed to investigate the identity of "Abu Loulou" and verify any potential connection with the forces, stressing that the results will be announced after the committee completes its work.
