HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
For more than two centuries, Morocco wrote a bright page in the history of the United States of America, when it was the first country in the world to recognize America's independence in 1777. Sultan Mohammed bin Abdullah allowed American ships to enter Moroccan ports freely, in a move that embodied the spirit of friendship and mutual respect between the two peoples.
This historic recognition was officially reinforced by the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship in 1786, thereby laying the foundation for stable diplomatic relations that continue to this day between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.
In the modern era, the position of US President Donald Trump came to show that history has not forgotten, and that true friendship translates into practical stances. Trump presented a UN initiative to support the Moroccan Sahara, a step that ended all separatist claims and proposals that were being promoted by Algeria and its creation, the Polisario, confirming the United States' commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This support was not just a passing political stance, but an embodiment of the historical extension of strong and deep-rooted Moroccan-American relations, and it clarifies that appreciation for the good extends across generations.
Trump, through this initiative, did not forget the favor of the Moroccans that began since the first recognition of the United States, and proved that friendship between countries is not slogans, but practical and tangible positions on the international arena.
Today, thanks to this ancient history and contemporary American support, Morocco strengthens its international position and confirms to the world that its territorial integrity is an established right that cannot be prejudiced, and that true friends show their value when historical principles intersect with today's practical positions.
