A number of Moroccan football stars expressed their great joy and pride after the UN Security Council voted, on Friday, in favor of supporting the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the sole and realistic solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
Wydad Athletic Club published a video clip for the player Noureddine Amrabat, in which he said: "A very big day, and I am happy with this decision. I congratulate His Majesty King Mohammed VI and all Moroccans on the Security Council's support for the autonomy initiative in the Sahara. Praise be to God, long live the King, and Dima Maghrib." Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech also expressed his pride in this historic event, describing it as "a great day for Moroccans," and said in a video statement published by Wydad club: "We are proud and happy for our country. Let's celebrate. Long live the King and Dima Maghrib." As for the Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, the star of Paris Saint-Germain club, he chose to express his feelings through his official account on "Instagram," where he published a picture of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, accompanied by a brief comment bearing the slogan: "God, Country, King." These interactions reflect the strong spirit of national belonging that brings together Moroccan football stars with their homeland, and confirms the popular and sporting embrace of the Kingdom's first national cause.
