The Executive Committee of the Istiqlal Party, chaired by its Secretary-General Nizar Baraka, held a meeting this Saturday, November 1st, 2025, to discuss the contents of the high royal speech addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to the Moroccan people, following the issuance of the United Nations Security Council resolution regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue. The committee also discussed the UN resolution in its dimensions, connotations, and repercussions on the national issue.
The Executive Committee affirmed in its statement its great pride in the strategic orientations and major transformations carried by the royal speech, which lay the foundation for a new phase in the country's path, based on the transition from a logic of management to a logic of change, through the final consolidation of the Kingdom's territorial integrity within the framework of the political solution based on the autonomy initiative. The Committee praised the wisdom and insight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and his ability to draw the features of the next phase with a spirit of responsibility and a policy of extending a hand, far from the logic of the victor and the vanquished, and with the firm royal will to receive and embrace our brothers in Tindouf and grant them rights and all conditions of dignity on an equal footing with all citizens, with a view to building a strong Maghreb Union characterized by freedom, security, stability, and joint development. The Executive Committee also congratulated His Majesty the King and the Moroccan people on this "clear victory" that crowned a long path of continuous diplomatic and political work, marked by wisdom, patience, and foresight, which enabled Morocco to achieve a qualitative achievement in consolidating its territorial integrity thanks to a strategic royal vision that started more than two decades ago. The Committee appreciated the latest Security Council resolution on the Moroccan Sahara, considering it a clear affirmation that the autonomy initiative constitutes the practical, realistic, and only solution to end this fabricated conflict, in harmony with the goals of the United Nations Charter and its permanent support for stability and peace in the region and the world. It also expressed its appreciation for the positions of friendly and partner countries that supported the historical and legal legitimacy of our country, foremost among which are the United States of America, France, Britain, and Spain, in addition to the Arab and African sister countries. The Committee affirmed that autonomy for the southern provinces represents the beginning of a new phase in the path of national unity and the strengthening of the democratic choice, thanks to the success of the development model specific to these provinces and the major projects launched by His Majesty the King, such as the Dakhla Atlantic port, energy projects, the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, and the Atlantic Initiative, and other geostrategic projects that make the southern provinces a promising economic pole that strengthens the Kingdom's African depth. The Istiqlal Party reiterated its affirmation of the mobilization of all its male and female fighters behind His Majesty the King in order to contribute to the development and implementation of the elements of autonomy on the ground, within the framework of strengthening national unity and achieving comprehensive development and regional stability. The Executive Committee concluded its statement by calling for the continuation of national mobilization and the strengthening of the internal front, with raising the level of vigilance in the face of all attempts to disrupt the negotiation process or obstruct the actual implementation of autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty.
