HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Popular Movement expressed its deep joy and great happiness regarding the historic decision issued by the UN Security Council regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, considering it a decisive strategic turning point in the path of the territorial and national unity of the Kingdom.
The party affirmed, in a statement, that this historic moment is the culmination of the wise and strategic royal vision established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, over a quarter of a century, which enabled Morocco to achieve a decisive diplomatic achievement that ended the chapters of an artificial conflict that lasted nearly half a century. The party pointed out that the UN resolution, with its strategic depth, places on all national forces, from political parties, constitutional institutions, civil society, and economic actors, the responsibility of keeping pace with this historic transformation, by accelerating the pace of activating parallel diplomacy and defending national gains against the potential maneuvers of the opponents of territorial unity. The party also called for introducing the regional development model in the southern provinces of the Kingdom, which embodies the success of the royal vision in making these provinces a flourishing space and a model for integrated development, stressing the need to redouble efforts to accelerate the implementation of advanced and expanded regionalization in the various regions of the Kingdom, in line with the high royal directives aimed at achieving integrated territorial development and spatial justice. In conclusion of the statement, the Popular Movement party expressed its deep appreciation to the friendly and brotherly countries that supported Morocco's legitimate right to its territorial unity and recorded positive positions supporting the seriousness of the Moroccan initiative. It also issued an appeal to our Sahrawi Moroccan brothers detained in Tindouf to return to their homeland and contribute to the path of unity and development. The party renewed its call to the brotherly Maghreb countries to draw lessons from this UN resolution and engage in building a new Maghreb union based on cooperation and economic integration, which enhances the region's position as a strategic partner in the new world order, recalling the insightful royal vision embodied by the Atlantic Morocco plan and the initiative of Africa for Unity and Development.
