HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The high royal vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI has established a fundamental shift in Morocco's approach to the Sahara issue, as it moved from the legitimacy of historical defense to the legitimacy of achievement and development.
Since ascending the throne, His Majesty has made defending the territorial integrity a national priority, emphasizing that the Moroccan Sahara is the essence of national identity and a comprehensive state project. This transformation has been practically translated into making the southern regions a locomotive for regional and continental development, through major strategic projects in infrastructure, energy, and investment, which have transformed the Sahara into a Moroccan model of regional integration and economic integration. The royal vision has also been characterized by clarity of principle and firmness of position, as His Majesty stressed in more than one speech that national sovereignty is non-negotiable, and that patriotism requires commitment and responsibility. At the international level, the royal diplomacy has redefined Morocco's position on the world stage, through realistic stances that have led an increasing number of countries to support the autonomy initiative as the sole solution to the conflict. The Sahara issue has also become a criterion for measuring the credibility of partnerships and an indicator of countries' positions on Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity. At its core, the high royal vision represents a transition from the liberation march to the leadership march, where Morocco is no longer just defending a historical right, but is building a strategic reality based on development, stability, and international respect. The Moroccan Sahara has become a symbol of the nation's unity and a laboratory for its regional leadership, thus establishing the Kingdom as a unique model that combines steadfastness in principles and effectiveness in achievement.
