HIBAPRESS – Youssef Aqdad
Renaissance Berkane achieved a historic achievement by qualifying for the first time to the group stage of the African Champions League, after its deserved victory over its guest Ahly Tripoli of Libya with a result of (2-1), in the match that took place on Saturday evening on the grounds of the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, as part of the second preliminary round of the continental competition.
The Libyan team surprised its host in the tenth minute with an early goal signed by the player Moayad Ellafi, before the Berkane team was able to return to the match by Paul Valer Bassayen, who scored the equalizer in the 28th minute, restoring balance to the scales. In the second half, Renaissance Berkane continued its offensive pressure, and the player Ayoub Khairi was able to score the second goal in the 53rd minute, giving his team a valuable victory and the historic crossing card to the group stage. This great achievement comes in the first participation of Renaissance Berkane in the African Champions League, after winning last season the first national title in its history within the Moroccan professional league, to continue the Berkane team's upward path continentally and locally. It is worth mentioning that the first leg match that brought the two teams together in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, had ended in a positive tie (1-1), which gave Renaissance Berkane the advantage thanks to its victory in the second leg on its home ground.
