HIBAPRESS – Rabat
During the oral question session in the House of Representatives, the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, affirmed that the state will intervene to bring back those who have neglected their children outside of Morocco, saying: "Those who abandon their children and are arrested or something happens to them and they abandon them, we will intervene and bring them back. We are a state that does not abandon its children."
Wahbi's statement came in response to a parliamentary question about the practical steps the ministry has taken to facilitate the procedures for transferring Moroccans sentenced abroad, clarifying that the state will intervene in accordance with national laws and international treaties to ensure the repatriation of neglected Moroccan children abroad and to care for them. The Minister added that these measures also include penalties for parents who are negligent in their responsibilities, stressing that protecting the rights and interests of children is one of the state's priorities, and that the government is committed to ensuring the care of its children, regardless of the circumstances.
