HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, announced a new step aimed at facilitating the reintegration of former prisoners into society, clarifying that prisoners who have benefited from rehabilitation and integration programs and have obtained recognized certificates will be able to obtain a criminal record certificate free of the previous sentence, enabling them to enter the job market and rebuild their lives after their prison term ends.
Wahbi explained, during the oral question session in the House of Representatives, yesterday, Monday, November 3, 2025, that this measure comes within the framework of reviewing the conditions for submitting the criminal record for the benefit of citizens who have previously served a prison sentence, with the aim of supporting their opportunities for professional and social integration. The minister added that those benefiting from alternative sentences will, in turn, obtain "rehabilitation," highlighting that the ministry is working to digitize this process, so that the information system will automatically delete the sentence from the criminal record after a specified period, provided that no new crime is committed. Wahbi also revealed that his ministry is in the process of developing a special electronic program to implement this mechanism automatically as soon as possible, in addition to preparing a national criminal record center in Casablanca, to correct data and monitor the progress of the process. The minister stressed that these reforms aim to do justice to a number of citizens who are still suffering from the consequences of sentences they served many years ago, stressing that the goal is to enable them to have a new beginning that preserves their dignity and supports their integration into society.
