The General Consulate of the Kingdom of Morocco in Algeciras commemorated yesterday, Thursday, the fiftieth anniversary of the victorious Green March, in an atmosphere filled with national pride and deep belonging to the homeland. The ceremony was attended by a number of members of the Moroccan community residing in the region, representatives of the local authorities, and associative and cultural figures, as well as personalities from the Spanish civil society.
In his speech on this occasion, the Consul General of the Kingdom, Mr. Abdellah Beydoud, affirmed that the Green March was not just a historical event, but a national epic that embodies the firm faith in the justice of Morocco's cause and the unity of its territories. He added that this eternal anniversary is an opportunity to renew the covenant on the values of sacrifice, unity, and national cohesion established by His Majesty the late King Hassan II, may God have mercy on him, which are still embodied today by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, through a comprehensive development journey in various parts of the Kingdom.

The Consul General also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Moroccan community residing abroad in defending national issues, stressing that Moroccans around the world represent a strategic asset for Morocco and ambassadors for its values and identity in various parts of the world. He said in this regard: "Moroccans around the world are the pride of the nation, and their contributions to national development are appreciated and valued by the Kingdom."

This year's celebrations were distinguished by a special character, following the establishment of a new national occasion bearing the name "Unity Day" by a royal decree, which will be commemorated on October 31st of each year, in commemoration of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797/2025, which affirmed Moroccan sovereignty over the southern regions. This historic decision was considered the culmination of a successful diplomatic path led by Morocco with steadfastness and wisdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King.
The events concluded with an emotional national atmosphere, during which the participants expressed their deep loyalty to the homeland, confirming their constant readiness to contribute to the path of construction and progress, and renewing the covenant on the values launched by the eternal Green March half a century ago.

Thus, the Green March, after fifty years, remains an eternal symbol in the memory of the nation and the conscience of the nation, evoking every year the values of faith, unity, and loyalty. It is not only a historical memory, but a beacon that illuminates the path of future generations towards more giving and building, under a fluttering Moroccan flag that unites the sons of the nation inside and outside the country on one word: God, Homeland, King.
