The Secretariat of State in charge of maritime fishing announced today, Friday, the ban on the collection and marketing of shellfish in the classified area for shellfish farming Sidi Boulfdayel, belonging to the Tiznit region, until the complete purification of this area.
A statement from the Secretariat of State in charge of maritime fishing explained that the results of the analyzes carried out by the National Institute for Research in Maritime Fishing at the Boulfdayel area classified for shellfish farming, belonging to the Tiznit region, revealed the presence of marine toxins in shellfish at levels exceeding the acceptable standards. Based on this, consumers were advised to purchase only packaged products bearing health labels, which are marketed at licensed points of sale (official markets). The statement warned that shellfish that are promoted or sold in an unregulated manner do not have any health guarantee and therefore pose a risk to public health.
