The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, confirmed on Tuesday in Errachidia that the new support system for very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises is fully part of a comprehensive and integrated dynamic of deep economic reforms initiated by Morocco under the wise leadership of King Mohammed VI.
Akhannouch explained, in a statement on the sidelines of a national meeting dedicated to the official launch of the new system to support very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises, that this new system reflects the King's insightful vision aimed at strengthening investment as a fundamental engine for revitalizing the national economy, achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, and creating job opportunities, especially for the benefit of young people.
The Head of Government added that "very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises form the engine of the national economy, as they represent more than 90 percent of the entrepreneurial fabric in our country, and constitute a real lever for creating wealth and creating job opportunities."
In this context, he said that the new system to support very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises was designed to support this important category of enterprises, through a set of accompanying mechanisms that take into account the economic specificities of each region, with the aim of ensuring social and spatial justice.
He also explained that the new support system is characterized by its regional nature, as all its procedures will be implemented at the regional level, starting from the filing and study of files by the Regional Investment Centers, through the selection and approval of selected projects, to the signing of agreements by local authorities, followed by the process of disbursing financial support to the beneficiary projects.
On the other hand, Akhannouch pointed out that since the adoption of the new Investment Charter, the government has been working at an accelerated pace on the effective implementation of its provisions, especially the basic investment support system, the strategic investment projects support system, and the very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises support system.
He added that since the framework law for the charter came into effect in March 2023, the National Investment Committee has held nine meetings, during which it approved 250 investment projects with a total value of 414 billion dirhams, to create 179,000 direct and indirect jobs.
He recalled that the projects approved by the National Investment Committee include all regions of the Kingdom, and 34 economic sectors, including tourism, food industries, the automotive industry, textiles, energy, building materials, the pharmaceutical industry, chemistry, and transportation (…).
In the same context, Akhannouch explained that the government has begun implementing measures aimed at improving the business climate through the 2023-2026 roadmap, pointing out, in this regard, the simplification of investment procedures, facilitating the establishment of companies electronically, activating digital platforms such as the "CRI-Invest" platform, and implementing a structural and ambitious reform of the tax system, and reducing payment deadlines.
It is worth noting that the new support system for very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises allows benefiting from three investment grants, including a grant to create permanent jobs, a territorial grant aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of some areas for investment, and a grant directed to priority activities in order to direct investments towards promising sectors and future professions.
The value of this support can reach 30 percent of the amount of the investment eligible for support, with the possibility of combining these grants with those offered by the regions.
