In his opening speech, the Wali affirmed that this meeting represents a foundational stage for adopting a new development approach based on integration, harmony, and sustainability, stressing the importance of mobilizing various actors around coherent projects that reflect local specificities and meet the actual needs of the population. He also called for valuing the natural, agricultural, and tourism potentials that the city of Fez possesses, and encouraging initiatives aimed at benefiting youth and women, which enhances the dynamics of employment and local economic development. This meeting is the official launch of the process of preparing the integrated program for territorial development in the Fez region, which will be based on a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis of the needs of the population, with the aim of formulating structured projects that enshrine social justice and strengthen territorial cohesion, in line with the High Royal Directives. The meeting was organized in response to the contents of the Throne Speech on July 29, 2025, and the Royal Speech on the occasion of the opening of the legislative year on October 10, 2025, which emphasized the need to achieve balanced development that includes urban, rural, mountainous, and coastal areas, according to a participatory and equitable approach. The meeting concluded with the establishment of a preliminary road map that defines the priorities of intervention in the economic, social, and environmental fields, in preparation for the development of realistic and feasible projects that contribute to improving human development indicators and enhancing the position of Fez as a leading regional development hub. The dynamic will also continue through sectoral workshops and technical meetings to transform proposals and recommendations into practical programs that contribute to improving the quality of life and enhancing the attractiveness of the region with a view to achieving the desired sustainable development.
