HIBAPRESS – Ashtouka
The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance in Biougra has placed four individuals in the local prison in Ait Melloul, suspected of involvement in a criminal network operating in the possession and distribution of drugs in the province of Chtouka Ait Baha.
The arrest of the network members came as a result of tight security coordination between the Royal Gendarmerie elements in Sidi Bibi and Ait Amira, after the latter received precise information indicating the presence of suspects in the vicinity of the Sidi Bibi commune, who were in the process of promoting a quantity of hashish to a local distributor. Based on the available data, the gendarmerie elements moved to the scene, where the suspects were surrounded and arrested in the act, before being taken to the gendarmerie center for investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution. The initial investigations revealed that the detainees were active in transporting drugs from areas in the north, especially from the Taounate province, for distribution to promoters in a number of areas in the Souss-Massa region. Important quantities of hashish were seized, along with means of transportation and tools used in distribution, while investigations are still ongoing to uncover the other potential perpetrators in this criminal network. This successful operation falls within the framework of the continuous efforts exerted by the Royal Gendarmerie services to combat drug trafficking and enhance public security in the various communes of the Chtouka Ait Baha province.
