HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
Algeria voted, on Monday evening, in favor of the American draft resolution number 2803, which aims to cease fire in the Gaza Strip.
Algerian Ambassador Ammar Ben Djamaa said that true peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved without justice for the Palestinian people, stressing that the resolution forms part of the general framework of the United Nations for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ben Djamaa explained that the appendix to the resolution, consisting of 20 points within the plan of American President Donald Trump, represents an integral part of the resolution, and all parties must adhere to it. The Algerian representative added that the implementation of the plan requires a collective, sincere, and decisive will from the international community, expressing his hope that the resolution will open up a real horizon for the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank and put an end to their long suffering. Thirteen members of the Security Council voted in favor of the project, while Russia and China abstained from voting.
