HIBAPRESS – Tinghir
On the occasion of the glorious Independence Day, the Governor of Tinghir Province inaugurated a new flood protection project in the Azlak Valley in the commune of Toudgha Upper, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preventive infrastructure against the risks of flash floods that the province witnesses during the rainy season.
The investment in this project amounts to about 3.75 million dirhams, and the project was supervised by the Directorate of Water Equipment, based on studies conducted by the Water Basin Agency for Guir-Ziz-Ghriss, within a partnership agreement with the Natural Disaster Effects Mitigation Fund. The project aims primarily to protect the local population and their property from the risks of floods that may affect the Azlak Valley, especially during periods of heavy rainfall that lead to rising water levels. In a related context, the Water Basin Agency for Guir-Ziz-Ghriss had previously installed automatic early warning devices for water loads risks in the Toudgha Valley, which enhances the safety of residents and improves the ability to deal with any sudden change in water levels.
