The political bureau of the National Democratic Party issued a political statement following its meeting on November 19, 2025, which was held in a national context coinciding with the celebration of the glorious Independence Day, and with the new dynamic launched by the Kingdom after the historic royal speech on October 31, 2025, calling for updating and developing the autonomy initiative in line with regional and international developments.
The party affirmed that the meeting was devoted to evaluating the current political moment and anticipating the prospects opened by the latest UN decision, and to formulating a responsible national position based on the historical experience of the party and its societal extensions, and on the constitutional references framing the path of the Moroccan state. The statement referred to its reliance on a set of reference foundations, most notably: The recent royal speech that set a strategic framework for the new generation of autonomy; The provisions of the 2011 constitution, which made advanced regionalization a structural option for the redistribution of territorial power; The democratic and institutional legitimacy of the Moroccan state; The field experience of the party within the three southern regions. The party stressed that the royal call to develop the autonomy initiative is a qualitative shift in dealing with the Moroccan Sahara issue, and establishes a new phase based on enhancing the effectiveness of the territorial model and enabling regional institutions to exercise expanded powers within the framework of the unified state. The statement added that the updated autonomy is not limited to administrative engineering, but is a complete political and constitutional project that falls within a national vision to enhance territorial democracy, and expand the institutional participation of the population in formulating the development decision. The political bureau emphasized the centrality of involving the people of the Moroccan Sahara in shaping the future of the region, and the strategic importance of reintegrating returnees from the Tindouf camps, considering them as national human capital that should be invested according to an approach based on fairness, restoring consideration, and building opportunities. The party considered that UN resolution 2797 of 2025 constituted a prominent diplomatic shift that consolidated the position of the Moroccan initiative within international legitimacy, and confirmed the seriousness and credibility of the Kingdom, and also rearranged the regional equation with greater clarity that highlights the responsibilities of the concerned parties. The party stressed that the next phase is a phase of work, production, and proposals, not a phase of slogans, calling for comprehensive national mobilization to keep pace with this major strategic workshop. The National Democratic Party also announced its full readiness to engage intellectually, politically, and practically in the path of formulating a future vision for the autonomy system in accordance with the high royal directives. The political bureau concluded its statement by calling on all national forces to strengthen the rallying around the national project led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and to continue consolidating the Moroccan path to autonomy as the realistic and final solution to the fabricated conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
