The Beni Yakhlef area near Mohammedia witnessed a large-scale demolition campaign in recent days, targeting a number of illegal warehouse shacks that were built under mysterious circumstances in recent months.
This operation came within the framework of local authorities' efforts to combat illegal construction and address the spread of informal points that threaten the urban space and are used in unregulated activities. According to local sources, various relevant departments were mobilized, including administrative authorities, gendarmerie forces, and elements of civil protection, to implement the demolition operation, which included multiple facilities, some of which were used for storage and others for temporary residential use. The sources indicated that most of these buildings were being built at night, away from surveillance, before the authorities intervened to put an end to this illegal expansion. This campaign comes in the context of broader efforts by the authorities at the Casablanca-Settat region level to reduce the spread of unauthorized construction, and to ensure respect for urban planning regulations and preserve the aesthetics of the urban environment.
