The National News Agency in Lebanon confirmed the killing of a prominent leader in Hezbollah, Haitham Ali Tabatabai, following an Israeli airstrike that targeted the southern suburb of Beirut yesterday.
The agency stated, quoting a statement from the party, that Tabatabai died as a result of the bombing that hit the Harat Hreik neighborhood in the southern suburb. According to the same source, the Israeli airstrike resulted in five deaths and twenty-eight injuries, according to the final figures issued by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Israel had previously announced its responsibility for the assassination of Tabatabai, describing him, through the words of its Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, as "one of the most prominent leaders" of Hezbollah.
