Moroccan international referee Bouchra Karboubi announced on Tuesday evening her decision to retire from the field of refereeing, after a career spanning 25 years, spent serving Moroccan football and representing the Kingdom in various international and continental forums.
In a letter addressed to the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Karboubi stated that she is proud of the achievements she has made, praising the support she received from the federation since the beginning of her career, and added that this decision came as a result of practices by the director of the National Technical Directorate of Refereeing and its members, which affected her career and thwarted some of her future ambitions.
Karboubi expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, stressing that the continuous support was a fundamental impetus in her fruitful career, and that she will remain committed to the sporting values and national spirit that she represented throughout her years of activity.
Bouchra Karboubi is one of the most prominent referees in Morocco, and has contributed significantly to enhancing the presence of the female element in the field of sports refereeing, to be a role model for many emerging referees in Morocco and the world.
